Getting Started - Thrive IVF

THRIVE Advantage/Resources

At THRIVE IVF, we know that beginning the process with a consultation and fertility assessment is just the beginning of your fertility journey. We understand that many people require additional support and resources and we are here to help!

Hotel Accommodations

Over the years, we have had the privilege of helping many individuals and couples from outside of Oklahoma achieve their dream of becoming parents. We are proud to have served patients from neighboring states and beyond.

We have partnered with several local hotels to offer significant discounts for those who prefer the convenience and cost savings of staying nearby rather than traveling back to their out-of-state homes during their stimulation cycle, after egg retrieval, and following embryo transfers.

Please ask to speak with our office manager or send an email to office@thrivefertilityivf.com if you need assistance in booking hotel reservations at discounted rates!

Thrive IVF Support Groups

Acupuncture

Acupuncture can be a complementary therapy for individuals undergoing IVF, offering several potential benefits. Studies suggest that acupuncture may help improve blood flow to the uterus, reduce stress and anxiety, and enhance overall relaxation, which can create a more favorable environment for embryo implantation.

Additionally, acupuncture may help regulate hormone levels and improve ovarian function, potentially increasing the chances of a successful IVF cycle. While more research is needed, many find acupuncture to be a supportive and holistic addition to their IVF journey.

Nutritional Counseling

  1. Personalized Nutrition Plan
    • A nutritionist can create a personalized nutrition plan tailored to your specific needs, including your medical history, current diet, and fertility treatment protocol.
    • They will focus on foods that support reproductive health, such as those rich in antioxidants, vitamins, minerals, and essential fatty acids, which can improve egg quality and sperm health.
  2. Optimizing Weight for Fertility
    • Maintaining a healthy weight is important for fertility, as being underweight or overweight can affect hormone levels and ovulation.
    • A nutritionist can guide you in achieving and maintaining a healthy weight through balanced nutrition, which may improve your response to fertility treatments.
  3. Balancing Hormones Through Diet
    • Hormone balance is key to successful fertility treatments. A nutritionist can suggest foods that support hormone regulation, such as those rich in omega-3 fatty acids, whole grains, and lean proteins.
    • They can also recommend reducing or eliminating foods that disrupt hormone balance, like those high in refined sugars and trans fats.
  4. Reducing Inflammation
    • Chronic inflammation can negatively impact fertility. A nutritionist can help you incorporate anti-inflammatory foods like leafy greens, berries, nuts, and seeds into your diet.
    • They may also recommend avoiding inflammatory triggers like processed foods, excessive caffeine, and alcohol.

Childcare

We do not permit children to accompany their parents to doctor visits, especially during procedures.

Psychological Support

Fertility treatments like IVF and IUI can be emotionally and physically demanding. The journey often comes with highs and lows, uncertainty, and stress, making mental and emotional support a critical component of the treatment process. A mental health professional, such as a therapist, counselor, or psychologist, plays a key role in helping individuals and couples navigate these challenges. Here’s how they can support you during your fertility journey:
  1. Providing Emotional Support
    • Fertility treatments can be an emotional rollercoaster, filled with hope, anxiety, and sometimes disappointment. A mental health professional offers a safe space to express and process these emotions, helping you cope with the ups and downs of the journey.
  2. Managing Stress and Anxiety
    • Stress and anxiety are common during fertility treatments, and they can impact both emotional well-being and overall health. A mental health professional can teach stress management techniques such as mindfulness, relaxation exercises, and breathing techniques to help you stay calm and focused.
  3. Coping with Uncertainty and Loss
    • The uncertainty of fertility treatments can be challenging, and the possibility of unsuccessful cycles or pregnancy loss can be deeply painful. Mental health professionals provide compassionate support, helping you process grief, manage expectations, and find resilience through difficult times.
  4. Improving Communication and Relationship Dynamics
    • Fertility treatments can strain relationships, as partners may experience different emotional responses or stress levels. A mental health professional can facilitate open communication, helping couples understand each other’s perspectives, strengthen their bond, and work together as a team.
  5. Developing Coping Strategies for Decision-Making
    • Fertility treatments often involve complex decisions, such as choosing between different treatment options, considering third-party reproduction, or deciding when to stop treatment. A mental health professional can guide you through these decisions, helping you weigh your options and make choices that align with your values and goals.
  6. Addressing Mental Health Conditions
    • If you have a pre-existing mental health condition, such as depression or anxiety, a mental health professional can provide targeted support to manage these conditions during fertility treatment. This may include therapy, medication management (in coordination with a healthcare provider), or other tailored interventions.
  7. Supporting Self-Care and Resilience
    • Self-care is essential during fertility treatments. A mental health professional can help you develop self-care routines that promote physical and emotional well-being, such as exercise, healthy eating, adequate sleep, and time for relaxation and hobbies.
  8. Offering Support for Single Individuals and Non-Traditional Families
    • For individuals pursuing fertility treatments on their own, or for LGBTQ+ couples, the journey may involve unique emotional and social challenges. A mental health professional can provide inclusive, affirming support that addresses these specific needs and concerns.
  9. Preparing for Parenthood
    • For those who become pregnant through fertility treatments, the transition to parenthood can bring new emotions and challenges. Mental health professionals can help you navigate this transition, preparing you emotionally for the changes ahead.
  10. Group Support and Community Connection
    • In addition to individual counseling, mental health professionals often facilitate support groups where individuals and couples can connect with others going through similar experiences. This sense of community can be incredibly validating and comforting.
Overall, a mental health professional is an invaluable partner in your fertility journey, providing the tools, support, and guidance needed to manage the emotional aspects of treatment. Their expertise can help you maintain a sense of balance, hope, and resilience, making the process a little bit easier to navigate.

Support Groups

Support groups can be a vital source of comfort and strength for individuals and couples undergoing fertility treatments like IVF and IUI. These groups bring together people facing similar challenges, offering a safe space to share experiences, receive emotional support, and gain valuable insights from others on the same journey. Here’s how participating in a support group can be beneficial during fertility treatments:
  1. Providing Emotional Support
    • Fertility treatments can be isolating, and it’s common to feel like others don’t fully understand what you’re going through. Support groups provide a community of individuals who are experiencing similar struggles, which can be validating and reassuring.
    • Sharing your story and hearing others’ experiences can help you feel less alone, providing comfort and understanding from people who truly get it.
  2. Learning and Sharing Practical Tips
    • Support groups are a great place to exchange practical advice about navigating fertility treatments. Members often share tips on managing medications, dealing with side effects, communicating with healthcare providers, and handling the logistics of treatment.
    • This shared knowledge can make the treatment process feel more manageable and give you ideas for coping with the day-to-day challenges.
  3. Reducing Stress and Anxiety
    • The emotional stress of fertility treatments can be overwhelming. Support groups provide a space to express your feelings openly without judgment, which can significantly reduce stress and anxiety.
    • Hearing how others cope with similar emotions can provide new strategies for managing stress, and simply knowing that you’re not alone in your feelings can be incredibly soothing.
  4. Gaining Perspective and Hope
    • Fertility treatments can involve a lot of uncertainty and waiting, which can be discouraging at times. Support groups often include members at different stages of the journey, from those just starting out to those who have successfully conceived.
    • Listening to success stories and seeing others progress through treatment can provide hope and encouragement, helping you stay positive and motivated.
  5. Building a Sense of Community
    • The journey through fertility treatments can be isolating, especially if friends and family members don’t fully understand what you’re experiencing. Support groups create a sense of community, offering a network of people who truly understand your journey.
    • This community aspect can foster deep connections and friendships that provide ongoing support, even outside of group meetings.
  6. Support for Partners and Families
    • Fertility treatments affect not just individuals but also their partners and families. Many support groups welcome partners, allowing them to share their own experiences and receive support.
    • This can be especially helpful in strengthening relationships, improving communication, and ensuring that both partners feel supported during the process.
  7. Professional Guidance and Resources
    • Some support groups are led by mental health professionals, counselors, or fertility experts who can provide additional guidance and resources.
    • These professionals can offer expert advice, answer questions, and help facilitate discussions that address common concerns and challenges.
  8. Empowerment Through Shared Experience
    • Being part of a support group can empower you by providing a space where you can take an active role in your own emotional care. Sharing your story and supporting others can give you a sense of purpose and control over your journey.
    • The collective wisdom of the group can help you feel more informed and prepared, boosting your confidence as you navigate treatment.
  9. Creating a Safe Space for All Emotions
    • Fertility treatments can trigger a wide range of emotions, from hope and excitement to frustration and grief. Support groups offer a safe space to express these feelings openly, without the need to put on a brave face.
    • This emotional release can be incredibly therapeutic and can help you process your feelings in a healthy way.
Joining a support group during fertility treatments provides not just emotional relief but also a sense of community, practical advice, and hope. Whether you’re seeking guidance, comfort, or simply a listening ear, support groups can be a powerful source of strength on your journey to parenthood.

Overall Wellness & Lifestyle

When trying to conceive, one of the most significant areas you can control is your lifestyle. Your lifestyle choices impact all aspects of your health, and by making positive changes—like eating a balanced diet, exercising regularly, getting enough sleep, and managing stress—you can increase your chances of becoming pregnant and experiencing a healthy pregnancy and delivery. At THRIVE IVF, we’re here to help you identify areas where you might need support to make these changes. Wellness Considerations to prepare your body for optimal reproductive health:
  1. Sleep – Are you getting 7-8 hours of restful sleep each night?
  2. Diet – Is your diet rich in vegetables, healthy fats, and balanced nutrition?
  3. Nutrition – Are you taking a prenatal vitamin or other supplements that may be beneficial?
  4. Alcohol and Smoking – Do you consume alcohol or smoke regularly?
  5. Exercise – How’s your exercise or movement routine? Are you staying active daily?
  6. Stress – Are you managing stress effectively? Do you have a therapist, counselor, or mental health provider to support you?
  7. Medical Conditions – Do you have any health conditions such as being overweight, pre-diabetes, diabetes, or others that may need attention?

Optimizing your lifestyle can make a big difference in your fertility journey. Our team at THRIVE IVF is here to support you every step of the way.
