Ovarian PRP Treatment
When your egg supply or response to fertility medication raises questions, understanding your options matters. At Thrive IVF Fertility, we can discuss ovarian PRP, an experimental procedure, and what the current research means for your care.
Understanding Ovarian PRP
What Is Ovarian PRP Treatment?
Ovarian platelet-rich plasma (PRP) treatment uses a concentrated portion of your own blood that contains platelets and growth factors. After a blood sample is collected and processed, the PRP is injected into the ovaries under ultrasound guidance.
Researchers are studying whether ovarian PRP can affect ovarian function in people with diminished ovarian reserve or a poor response to fertility medication. However, its ability to improve egg quality, pregnancy rates, or live birth rates has not been established. Ovarian PRP remains experimental, and its long-term safety is not fully understood.

Frequently Asked Questions
1. What Is Ovarian PRP Treatment?
2. Who Might Consider Discussing Ovarian PRP?
3. Can Ovarian PRP Improve Egg Quality or Reverse Ovarian Aging?
These benefits have not been established. Some studies have reported changes in ovarian reserve markers or treatment response, while others have found no meaningful benefit. Those changes do not necessarily translate into healthier eggs or a higher chance of live birth. PRP is not a proven way to reverse ovarian aging.
4. Is Ovarian PRP Painful, and What Are the Risks?
Ovarian injections can cause discomfort or pelvic pain. Possible risks include bleeding, infection, and injury from the injection procedure. If sedation or anesthesia is used, it carries additional risks. Long-term safety information is limited. Your care team will explain the comfort measures and risks that apply to your procedure.
5. How Soon Can Fertility Treatment Begin After Ovarian PRP?
There is no universally established schedule for fertility treatment after ovarian PRP. Timing depends on the procedure, recovery, and your individual care plan. Dr. Patel will discuss follow-up testing and when to consider your next treatment step. Ovarian PRP does not guarantee an improved response or pregnancy.
